I actually have not been lazy . I have been busy with health issues and dog judging etc. So let me update on our planned J litter. I have bred Olga IV to Lord v.d. Westmark. My Olga is one heck of a fine dog. She hunts like crazy and is a pleasure to hunt. She takes training well and with her natural talents scored ooutstanding on her tests. Her VJP was a 77. Her HZP was a 190. She scored a perfect VGP with a 348 UF She did the dead game guide also. These scores are often discounted by some breeders. I understand that scores aren’t everything. They are a good indicator though.!!!!. Olga when not hunting is a wonderful dog to be around. She is quite, clean and well behaved. She is loved by all that know her. I picked Lord for two reasons. First off I saw him at the Armbruster in 2017. He was a freak in the water, scoring a 12 and earning best water dog.. He finished third, very close to the first place dog. I know Lords handler well, Jason Wilde. Jason told me that Lord was the best tracking dog he had ever trained . Thats a big deal as he has tested something like 50 dogs. He also said he was over all one of the top dogs he had ever been around and trained. Secondly, I bred Olga to Lord’s sire her last litter. The pups are all very talented . I did however have a couple of slicks. Lord is a F/F which means zero slicks. I had Lord at my house for close to three weeks . He is a great dog to be around. He acted like he was raised here! I have what I call the honeymoon suite. It’s a fenced in area inside a larger fenced in area. I put Olga in there and then I would go get Lord. I would have Lord off lead and tell him heel. He would heel off lead everytime knowing Olga was waiting. Pretty darn good!!! The pups will be here around the 11th of March. I am taking deposits now.
See kennel news..
Plans are in the making for our E litter. I expect this litter around the first of Nov. I know that Prudence vom Tapferen herzen will be the mother. She has produced some outstanding pups, with a 77, a couple of 75's and several more in the 70's. I have several options at this time for the male and will post as soon as a final decision is made. There are several folks on a waiting list for a Prudy pup now.
I had planned on taking Miss Phila II v.d. Dachswiese to Germany to breed for vom Freda Haus D litter. I tried as hard as I could to get my passport before she came into heat. However it wasn't in the cards and I was unable to get it in time. Then as luck would have it I was offered Mentor IV Del Zeffiro, an outstanding young male from an outstanding owner/trainer. After a lot of thought I agreed to purchase him as long as he was here by Philas' 10th day. He made it here on her 9th day!!! I took him straight to the field and water and once sure he was as advertised introduced him to Phila. They got along nicely and got very busy!!!! Having only been in America for a day I am sure Mentor thought coming to America was a great deal!!! I expect pups the last of April if thing go as planned.
After raising 3 litters and spending many days working with my litters I have changed somewhat my goals. At one time, I, like many others had great lofty goals for my breeding program. I still do. However, for a more down to earth goal I have come to realize what I really want. I simply want to have people that are happy with their pups and pups that are happy with their people. Simple. I get more joy from seeing these two things than any other aspect of raising pups. This will be my goal as I start planning for the D litter vom Freda Haus.
A happy man!!! I will be using my Lukas vom Fuchsberg for the C litter. Prudence tapferen Herzen will be the female. This will be Prudys' second litter. Her first litter was a really nice litter with several really high scoring dogs. I really believe that this will be an outstanding match.
We have decided that Lukas vom Fuchsberg will be the Sire of our B litter. We will be planning on late 2014 or early 2015.
Mutter - Prudence vom tapferen Herzen
Sire - Lukas vom Fuchsberg
Plans are being made for our B litter. We will be using Prudence vom tapferen Herzen with the male that is undetermined at this time. We are considering a O litter male from the tapferen Herzen kennel. I had a male from the female of the O litter that I thought was one of the best males I had ever seen. His picture is on my home page. I am also considering the male I used for the A litter. Check back later to see which male I decide to use. I have so many of the A litter really happy with their pups that it will be hard not to use Gunner. As of this date I have 2 people that have put their name on the list for one of these pups. I keep a list of people that want a pup from my next litter. They will pay their deposits when it is decided which male will be used. If you want on this list for a litter around Oct. 2014 contact me.
- Prudence Vom Taperferen Herzer
Prudence Vom Taperferen Herzer (Prudy) is a loved member of our family. She is very loving, calm and clean in our home. She travels well and adjusts to any situation such as air travel on long road trips. She is a very strong water dog and a tireless hunter of downed ducks. She performs well on pheasant hunts as well as quail and geese hunts. She is also a strong tracker and is ready for the VGP. She was referred to as, "The most reliable retriever I have ever dealt with.", by Jason Wilde. It was Jason Wilde that suggested Gunner as a mate for Prudy. We are very excited about this breeding and look forward to these pups.
- Gunner Vom Orion
Gunner is an outstanding male. His owner, Paul Trust, tells me that he is a very calm dog in the house, kennel and car but a beast in the field. Gunner is outstanding in the water and a very strong tracker as well. I have several friends that have hunted with Gunner and say the same things. Gunner is an 11 on both form and hair.
